I never auditioned for anything in high school. Our theater program was pretty good, and I had some friends that would always be in the plays, but I never was the kind of kid, especially in high school—I didn't want to stick my neck out. I didn't want to be out there for criticism or whatever. I was always was kind of shy and had a small group of friends and just didn't take part in... I mean, freshman year I was in tennis and track and some things, but then I just sort of stopped being in anything and just kind of made my way through and graduated early. And that was it. I had an opportunity to go to New York when I was seventeen, but my parents didn't let me go til I was eighteen, until I graduated. But once I turned eighteen I went to New York and did some commercials and modeling and that kind of stuff. And I'd always liked to entertain. When I was at home with my family, it was a whole different deal. (it) |
