Monarchies are above political parties. Sometimes political parties do things that are to the disadvantage of the country because they want to beat the other party. In Iran, where we have different religions and ethnic groups, it was a unifying factor. When you see what happened in Iraq after the king was gone, and what happened in Afghanistan, in Egypt, in Libya, in Yemen... You know, Americans accept very well the British monarchy, but the rest, they don't know much about.
