I wouldn’t subscribe to a sentence included in a letter that Sigmund Freud once wrote to Princess Bonaparte, when he said “at the moment a man doubts or asks the question what is the value of his life, doubts the meaning of his existence, he is sick”. I don’t think that he is really sick. I rather think that this is the manifestation of his state of being human! Truly human! No ant, no bee, no animal will ever raise the question whether or not its existence has a meaning, but man does! It’s his privilege that he cares for a meaning to his existence (en) |
